Insecurity among senior staff. New hires must step up to prove their capabilities.
The good thingsUnderstanding bosses who are willing to sit down and teach as new hires we need to learn the ropes before taking in more important responsibilities.
The challengesInsecurity among peers. Existing peers are not willing to share, afraid they might lose their job to new hires. Hence, new hires will not have the opportunity to step up. The moment they step up, they are pull down by the senior staff. Senior staff seems to have their clicks. So when comes to appraisals, judgement have already been made.

    Bad leadership and insufficient manpower
The good thingsGood process flow and supported with good resources.
The challengesBad leadership, not sufficient training. Lack of mentorship for new comer. Overloaded volumne for all colleagues in the same department. Require time to understand policy. Long voluntary free work(include weekend) Pay is not justifiable against such long working hours.

Overall average, if you're attuned towards work life balance, the culture suits you.
The good thingsGood work life balance
The challengesPoor career progression. If you fall in a team with a mindset of a rats race, you'll have a difficult life as people will do whatever it takes to bring you down and them up, since progression is so slow.

    Learning on the job
The good thingsThe working environment is comfortable and other colleagues are very easy to talk to or communicate with. Employer also allows us to go and survey any conferences or events that can be applied to our own event.
The challengesThe reimbursement and salary is always delayed even though it is submitted on time.

Intelligent bosses , some are patience
The good thingsFriendly and helpful colleagues. Down to earth, minimal politics. Health oriented. Alot of opportunities to exercise, keep fit. Number of days of annual leave.
The challengesLayers of approvals. The need to write paper for approval. The trend is minimum 5 years for a promotion or upgrade. Some even longer, even though they are very capable and hardworking

Good cause but may not suit those looking for career advancement
The good thingsMeaningful place to work for. Friendly workplace (not much office politics). Efficient and approachable HR staff. Excellent staff engagement. Attempts to allow work-life balance for staff.
The challengesNot much room for career advancement (promotion seems to be on a \"wait-for-your-turn\" basis unless you are a really special case). Seems to not recognise educational qualifications that are outside of NUS, NTU, SMU etc. Work is not challenging enough and is often hampered by the outdated IT infrastructure.
