It was a bumpy ride but its all worth it
The good thingsI have been with NetLinkTrust for almost 10 years now. I have seen how the company matured. It was a merged company from three different companies namely SingTel, OpenNet and CityNet. Three companies with different working culture. It was not easy to get everyone work together at first but the management tried to make it work and it happened. I foresee that this will be one of the biggest company in Singapore in the future.
The challengesTheres a lot of work as the company is supporting the whole nation that sometimes lead to stress.

    Netlink Trust have Trust Issues
The good thingsRelatively easy job scope. occasionally get to travel to sites. colleagues are generally good to each other.
The challengesno trust from upper management. Uneasy working environment. High turnover rate, you can easily figure out why. Acting/wayang skill is a must have. Possible to apply for acting career at mediacorp. No experience required because you wont need it and wont learn anything either. colleagues are fine, bonus is a lie.

    Dynamic and fast pace environment
The good thingsFlexible workload, mostly project base, as long as timeline are met, there are no issues. Innovative thinking and versatile solving skills required. Able to work alone to development advance planning skill, timeline and budgeting management.
The challengesStressful and fast pace, alot of responsibility and immediate decisions making are required, need to have the ability to plan ahead and understand the project work from head to tail, financial work are included too.

    The good thingsrelax environment
The challengesYou have to be willing to work for a company whom can't afford to pay its worker $9.25 cab fare for the trip home from work at 11pm. Reason given was that there are still available public transport.

Learned a lot about how the fiber network to residential areas are distributed.
The good thingsAble to work with various contractors and telecommunication providers to gain insight on their work. And by understanding their work, i can change and adapt my own in order for everyone's job to go smoothly. Meet a lot of different people from different job scope and learning about their working experience.
The challengesUneven work load. Times where there is no work at all, so it feels like a waste of time. And periods of extreme work load when all the telecommunication companies apply fiber cable connection all at once. Stand-by duty requires me to be available at all time to respond and travel to various sites to rectify fault, unable to enjoy my leisure time even off office hours.
