Shan You Counselling Centre provides professional counselling to youths, adults, couples, and families. Our clients present with a wide range of mental health, relationship, and other issues. Our counselling services are accessible and affordable to all in the community, regardless of race, religion, and nationality. We seek to empower persons with mental health and other challenges to recover and live well.Shan You is a registered society and a charity with the status of Institutions of a Public Character, and a full member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Shan You is supported by Community Chest, corporate and individuals donors.

    Positive mission, but workplace culture still has room to grow
    The good thingsFrontline staff are genuinely caring, competent, and dedicated. Mission and client work are meaningful and rewarding. Colleagues often support one another despite organisational challenges.
    The challengesThe organisation promotes strong values such as compassion and integrity, but some staff experience a gap between these ideals and everyday practice. Frequent leadership changes and shifting directions can create uncertainty, with decisions not always clearly explained. This can make it difficult for employees who wish to continue contributing meaningfully to feel supported. Policies around flexibility and arrangements appear to be applied inconsistently, which can feel discouraging when reasonable, work‑focused requests are not fully considered. Staff benefits have also seen little evolution over time. At a broader level, feedback and differing perspectives are not always comfortably received, which may affect morale and retention. Overall, while the organisation’s values are well articulated, greater consistency, transparency, and care in how staff concerns are handled would help better align culture with intent.

    The senior management is not really leading
    The good thingsgenerally the work culture and work load is acceptable . But the senior management who has been leading the organisation for years doesnt seem to be leading the organisation , resulting with a lot of miscalculated decisions.
