    Looks fancy but rotten inside
The good things- Good exposure of Japan MNC, and high volume of work.
The challengesHeavy work load Not a very friendly environment to new comers. - During exit of job, HR did a very poor job. Causing me extra effort just to get back my salary. Pleas check carefully especially when it comes to salary. People are depending on it for a living. Please do your job properly by not causing others extra trouble.

    Good company to grow with
The good thingsThe company is stable and structured. They take care of their employees by providing uniform, lunch, and transportation. A good learning environment and developing specialist skills. Management encourages staff to feedback on improving the job function.
The challengesAdapt the culture: Training of new staff is pretty tough for senior staff as they are not a professional trainer. I think more or less is because of the difference between educational cultures. In the past, information was hard to find, people often asked more questions, but now information is easy to find, so people tend to wait for the answers. Senior staff are expecting junior to ask questions. On the other hand, junior are expecting senior to provide all the information.

    Bad Management
The good thingsYou get paid regardless of how much you work, so if you choose to work less you still get your salary
The challengesThe management is really bad, doesn't know how to reward the right staff for their hard work and takes the credit for themselves when things turn out better than expected.

The good thingsThe camaraderie among the colleagues was a major plus and there is not much politics among the staff (at least not much among staff who are not at the middle management level). Another good thing was the decent amount of bonuses. The staff discounts on Shimano's products were also good, especially for fans of Shimano's bicycle parts/ fishing rods. Last but not least, the couple of travelling opportunities for work (albeit to nearby countries) also provided good exposure.
The challengesShimano definitely need to stop micro-managing its entry level staff and also to stop over-working its staff who are doing well. There is also a need to provide better training for its staff and staff's feedback should also be taken more seriously.

The vision of Closer to Nature, Closer to People
The good thingsHere is a place that we are empower to constantly making decisions and an culture that encourage innovation and continuous improvement. We got the chances to work globally to explore and learns leadership skills throughout these overseas attachment. In additional, have plenty of exchange programs and working cross-functionally, be it cross department or cross-countries projects.
The challengesThis company has been establish in Singapore for 43 years while Japan HQ reaching 100 years in 4 years time. In other words, people have been working up the ladder in the organization. To drive change, itself is a challenge to convince the so-called obstacles. Ours is kind of conventional manufacturing company, which we are working to how IoT integration and retaining engineers continuously innovate.
