Chemical Engineers use their expertise in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and engineering to solve problems related to the production and use of chemicals. They work in petrochemical, speciality chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, environmental and water industries. They help make products such as fuel, paints, biodegradable plastics, medicines, cosmetics, personal care products and food.

How to become a Chemical Engineer
A bachelor degree in chemical engineering is required to become a Chemical Engineer. Some employers prefer candidates with advanced academic credentials and a certification from the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) of Singapore.

Complete a bachelor degree in engineering, majoring in chemical engineering.

Consider completing a masters degree in engineering.

Gain practical experience through an internship or entry-level position. The Professional Engineers Board of Singapore requires Chemical Engineers to have at least four years of practical experience.

Apply for certification from the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) of Singapore. Sit and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination and the Practice of Professional Engineering Examination. You may also be asked to attend an interview.
