What's it like to be an English Teacher?
The main responsibility of an English Teacher is to help students communicate fluently and confidently in the English language. Lessons are usually given to small groups of students or one-on-one. English Teachers may plan lessons, projects and assessments that are designed to develop their students reading, writing and speaking skills.

How to become an English Teacher
You need a bachelor degree and teaching certificate to become an English Teacher in Singapore.

Complete a bachelor degree in english, linguistics, communications, humanities, education or a related field. A relevant postgraduate degree may be beneficial but is not usually required.

Complete the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-level) and Advanced Level (GCE A-level). Additionally, aspiring English Teachers are required to have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate.

Some education institutions require English Teachers to have at least one year of teaching experience, while others may welcome applicants without experience as training is provided on the job.
