What's it like to be a Logistics Assistant?
Logistics Assistants are responsible for the parcels that arrive in a warehouse facility. They unpack parcels, complete necessary paperwork for documentation and dispatch stock. They also help in ensuring that all packages are in good condition. They report to the Warehouse Manager in regards to any package defect, spill or complication. Logistics Assistants also help in documenting inventory and addressing customer complaints. They provide administrative support to the logistics, shipping or transportation departments of a warehouse.
Tasks and duties
- Overseeing deliveries to a warehouse.
- Signing delivery notes once shipments are received.
- Completing purchase orders from various suppliers.
- Verifying inventory information.
- Preparing condition reports to include in updates to the warehouse manager.
- Unpacking items and arranging them on the shelves.
- Completing customer invoices.
How to become a Logistics Assistant
Since this is typically an entry-level position, formal qualifications are not required. However, prior experience working in a warehouse may boost your chances of employment.

Complete your secondary school certificate. While not necessary, a bachelor degree in logistics and transport management may improve your employability and broaden your career options.
