What's it like to be a Warehouse Assistant?
A Warehouse Assistant’s typical responsibilities include lifting and storing products, scanning orders and codes, tracking inventory and monitoring deliveries and orders. They play a key role in managing the flow of deliveries and shipments in a warehouse. Physical fitness is usually a requirement for this role, as Warehouse Assistants sometimes need to carry heavy packages or equipment.
Tasks and duties
- Packing and stocking products in a warehouse.
- Organising and labelling items.
- Documenting and recording warehouse stock and monitoring inventory control.
- Shipping items to the correct address.
- Loading and unloading items.
- Operating forklifts and other heavy machinery if required.
- Handling necessary tools and accessories.
How to become a Warehouse Assistant
You don’t need a qualification to become a Warehouse Assistant. You may need a certification or licence to operate the heavy machinery that can be involved in the role.

Consider obtaining a forklift licence to boost your resume or meet your employer’s requirements.
