What’s it like working at Economic Development Board?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at the Economic Development Board appreciated the brilliant senior management who empowered their teams, as well as their intelligent and industrious colleagues with high integrity. The Board provided a great training ground for new employees, offering exposure to various industries, companies, and government bodies, along with valuable insights into economic policies and strategies.

However, some potential challenges included an expectation of long work hours and very high standards. Employees also had to manage the impact of organizational changes. Furthermore, there were limited career progression opportunities for those not in Admin Services or scholars, with an over-emphasis on academic qualifications acting as a barrier.

    Great training ground
The good thingsGreat training ground for those who have just entered the workforce. Lots of exposure to industries, companies & other government bodies. Insights into economic policies & industry development strategy.
The challengesLimited opportunities if you are not in Admin Services or a scholar. Over-emphasis on academic qualifications leading to glass ceiling for many capable junior officers who found it hard to advance, even after investing in getting a degree (as this was not recognized). Many good ones leave after a while.
