What’s it like working at Rolls-Royce?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Rolls-Royce value the supportive team environment and friendly colleagues, working together in a clean, safe, and air-conditioned facility. Safety is a top priority, with strong management commitment to workplace health. The company offers excellent training programmes and opportunities for overseas learning, along with good benefits including bonuses, subsidised food, and transport. Employees find the work meaningful and exciting, contributing to aerospace innovation by building engines that fly in the sky.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as shift work with early morning and late night timings that can be difficult for some employees. There is pressure to meet targets and deliver on time, with high expectations for production and quality. Some employees feel that management communication could be improved, with feedback not always leading to action. Planning and processes can be complex, with decisions made in the UK sometimes causing delays, and staffing levels can be stretched when colleagues leave, requiring teams to take on additional work.

Declining Morale and Concerns Over Leadership Transparency, Fairness, and Accountability
The good thingsGenerally people are friendly and company has good benefits
The challengesTaking this opportunity to share the experience working at Rolls-Royce Solutions Asia (Tukang). Team morale has noticeably declined over the past year, following the recent Senior manager promotion that has been a concern. There is a general perception that the promotion process lacked transparency, with perceived favoritism of the director influencing the decision, affecting the trust and confidence within the team. There are instances where HR processes are perceived as being applied in ways more with management preferences than employee support, contributing to a less open working environment. Currently there is a strong focus on hiring technically capable engineers, with unclear expectations. This has led to uneven distribution of responsibilities among the team, as workloads are not managed equitably. Overall, I encourage prospective candidates to do thorough research and ask detailed questions about team structure, management style, and expectations before joining.

    Amazing and unique workplace
The good thingsProfessional interactions between the first line management and technicians. Ever since the changed of Operational Director, micro managing of staff is no longer a practice. The people around great and supportive as long as you've earn the trust and you will be in the good list.
The challengesHuge decisions are all made in the UK, hence production still carries on while decision is on pending (especially during holidays). And at times may require to reverse its processes due to rejections.

One company that you can work with
The good thingsA well respected jobs as you know that the engine you build is fly up in the sky and part of it is your effort.
The challengesYou have to work under stress and pressure as time and quantity is one top priority.
