Florists, or Flower Designers, create a variety of floral arrangements for individual customers, and displays for banquets and big events. They understand different flower types, and they also know when they are in season and understand their longevity. They specialise in determining what flowers go well together for particular occasions.
Tasks and duties
- Liaising with event planners to identify project requirements and the kind of flowers needed.
- Carefully selecting and buying flowers from several suppliers.
- Cutting and designing flowers to make them look more appealing and fitting to the event.

- Giving customers tips on how to take care of their flowers.
Florists can either be self-employed or work for a business owner. They are responsible for the reputation of a flower shop since their selections and arrangements are the driving force of the business’ revenue.
