What's it like to be a Mechanical Engineer?
Mechanical Engineers work on the construction, design and repair of mechanical systems and components. They are experts in the engineering of machines, but their work can also draw on principles from electrical, computer and chemical engineering. Mechanical Engineers can work in a variety of industries that rely on machines, including car and aviation, healthcare, agriculture and civil infrastructure.

- Building or facilitating the construction of mechanical systems and components.
- Testing mechanical systems for functionality.
- Fixing equipment failures.
- Collaborating with other engineers.
- Developing and testing new designs and technology.
- Estimating costs and preparing project bids.
How to become a Mechanical Engineer
You need to be registered as a Professional Engineer to practise Mechanical Engineering in Singapore.

Complete a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering.
- 2.
Gain at least four years of practical experience.
- 3.
To earn certification, sit and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination and the Practice of Professional Engineering Examination. You will also need to attend and pass an interview.

Register with the Professional Engineers Board as a Professional Engineer.
