What's it like to be a Personal Assistant?
Personal Assistants commonly work for senior managers in a business, politicians and celebrities. Their task is to assist their client with various tasks such as planning schedules, taking calls and organising transportation. Personal Assistants provide one-on-one support and sometimes work on-call to assist their clients outside of regular working hours.
Tasks and duties
- Scheduling meetings, taking messages and booking appointments.
- Running personal errands such as buying food, picking up children and dropping off laundry.
- Updating a client’s schedule and advising them of upcoming events.
- Storing, organising and documenting meetings, messages and other communication.
How to become a Personal Assistant
Although a degree is not required for this career, studies and/or experience relating to business administration and customer service may be beneficial.

Consider completing a bachelor degree in business administration.

Gain experience. You could start off in an entry-level customer service role. Alternatively you could volunteer as an assistant for a manager in a non-government organisation, an influencer or politician.
