good working infrastructure but dangerously understaffed.
The good thingsSalary is rather competitive, and there may be a bonus depending on their mood.
The challengesBefore the new company took over, overtime was a given. You'd do OT easily 3 times a week at the very minimum. when they reduced overtime hours to help us reduce our shift time to 8 hours per day, it meant a much tougher time while on shift for the rest of us because that meant there were fewer nurses in the centre. it was a ticking timebomb. i understand there's a global nursing shortage, but there were opportunities to keep patients and nurses safe, and management did not take those opportunities. Talking to HR felt like talking to a wall, it was absolutely frustrating. If your managers are giving your colleagues problems, and HR won't take you seriously, the only option is to leave. heartbreaking because we've grown to know our patients personally, and have built longstanding relationships with them. but your health is the most precious asset, guard it with your life. companies will replace you in a heartbeat.
