Johs. Rieckermann was first registered in Hamburg, Germany in 1892. Starting out as ink-trader, Rieckermann soon extended its product portfolio to sewing machine components and typewriters for overseas export. During the 1930’s its first affiliated offices were established in Japan, China and Iran. Up to the 1950’s the expansion into Far Eastern markets continued and offices were founded in Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong. During the so-called German “Economic Miracle” Rieckermann followed the industrial and technological progressions and put an emphasis on major industries such as graphics, metal processing, plastic & converting, pharma and food industry.For Rieckermann the 1960’s turned out to be the “Middle Eastern Decade” with a significant focus on the Middle Eastern markets. This region became another pillar of Rieckermann’s activities with the foundation of its Egypt office and involvement in Sudan, Libya and various projects in the Gulf Region. In South East Asia expansion continued through/into Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. In the 1980’s Rieckermann was able to establish its presence further in China and Vietnam with numerous offices. Up until today Rieckermann keeps enhancing its presence there with extended product and service portfolios.Finally, the 21st century brings further establishments of offices in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Russia and Cambodia.
