i spent days crafting a sleek, modern logo with clean lines, perfect balance. Sent it over, feeling like a design god… only for the client to reply, “Can you make it more colorful and fun?” Bro, what does that even mean?? Can it be more constructive/specific?? In the end, they went with some chaotic rainbow mess. Do you guys still put rejected work in your portfolio? How do you balance making something you love vs. what the client wants? Cos ngl, this one still hurts.

Oof, I know the pain. Clients don’t always speak "design language," so “more fun” could mean a million things. I try to get them to show references early on to avoid heartbreak. As for rejected work, if I love it, it goes into my portfolio. The key is knowing when to push back and when to let go. Some battles aren’t worth it.
