In my company, it’s common for my boss and teammates to message after work hours and expect a fast reply. At first I could tolerate it, but now I get super anxious every time I see their texts. I’m thinking of getting a separate phone just for work so I can switch it off after hours and finally rest. I want better mental boundaries, but with appraisal season coming up, I’m scared it might look bad. Anyone tried this or found a better way to set boundaries without hurting your yearly review?

Is it really wrong to do other stuff during WFH? 😭 I got caught doing laundry and running errands, but I always deliver my work on time and meet deadlines. Many times I reply late but still within reasonable time and it's not because I’m slacking off but I was just multitasking with other things. Now my boss says he’ll bring it up during appraisal and might take away my WFH privilege. How do I explain myself and convince him that I’m still productive, just with better work-life balance?

Hi I'm a 25yo, I'm not sure what to do, I recently started my job for 3 months, I'm already thinking of resigning. It might sound stupid but everyday going to work feeling like I'm dragging my feet, I have no heart in the work but I'm getting good salary and benefits. Please advice thank you in advance.

35, jobless, broke (literally only $500 in my account) & still living with my parents. Am i a failure? Got retrenched last year and haven’t been able to land anything since. Is it age factor? IDK. My savings almost gone while most of my friends are either getting married, buying houses, or climbing career ladders but I'm stuck in a loop of rejection emails with zero motivation. I feel like I’ve failed in every way possible & it's so late to start over again. IDK what else to do. Any advice?

It’s frustrating how most employers reject applications so quickly without even giving you the chance to prove yourself. I’m hardworking, a fast learner, and always willing to improve, but it feels like none of that matters if they don’t take a moment to see your potential. I just wish I could be given that one chance to show what I’m really capable of.

I was hired for as a contract staff for 2 years now. I was very optimistic that I’ll get converted to a perm but they hired my friend as a perm instead of promoting me. There’s 2 others in this company who carries the same title as me. Each of them work 1 big project a year but I’m working on a 3rd big project now (not in original discussions). I feel undervalued and taken advantage of. I’m starting to develop health issues due to stress. There’s an opening now but they still did not promote me.

This is a job confession. I’m low-key envious of my cousin. He’s only a bus driver, a job that many in SG would look down on yet he earns a solid income, has great work-life balance, and actually enjoys what he does. Our family & people around him find it odd because he’s smart, has a degree, but he’s happier than most of us who stuck working in offices. Meanwhile, I got a “respectable” job but chained to my desk, stressed out & wondering if this so-called "prestige" is really worth it. ☹️

Sharing my story so others don't give up! I know firsthand how discouraging job hunting can be. After leaving a challenging role last August, I recently accepted a new position following a year of persistent job searching. It took time for me to heal emotionally and mentally from my previous job but I'm so glad I took the time out and venture to new field. Remember, your time will come. Don’t doubt your abilities.
