I’m curious why, during resume vetting or interviews, employers tend to focus so much on our educational background rather than our actual capabilities and experience in the field we’ve worked in. Some of us may have had poor grades in the past, but as we grow older and mature, we become wiser, more skilled, and more competent within our scope of work. Shouldn’t our experience, growth, and proven abilities matter just as much? if not more, than our academic results?

When applying for full-time roles in a specific field, should unrelated part-time jobs be included on a resume? Examples might include F&B crew, delivery rider, or general helper positions. Could listing them demonstrate a strong work ethic, or might it make the candidate seem unfocused? Is it better to include these roles or leave them out?

My resume not bad one...results awesome, clear format, even tailored to each job. Problem is, I do get interview calls but all from SMEs or small local companies. I'm gonna be honest, I’m aiming for MNCs or bigger brands with better structure and growth. Am I doing something wrong with my resume? How do I tailor my CV or approach so it actually attracts the attention of big companies only? Anyone here successfully made their resume so powerful that only MNCs call them? Share your tips!

Do startups look for different traits compared to corporates when hiring? Feels like startups value adaptability and taking initiative, while corporates lean more on polished credentials and processes. If you’ve worked in both, what traits or skills do you think really stand out in a startup vs. a corporate setting? Hey, I’m helping my friend write his resume but honestly his English really suxx. I’m worried that during the interview, his English won’t match the resume and the interviewer might realise someone else wrote it for him. How leh? Should I simplify the resume or just be honest? So stress liao!

I have a strong interest in e-commerce/admin/sales. I have customer service and I’m able to do basic video editing and product listing using my phone. While I don’t have prior experience, I’m highly motivated to learn and adapt quickly. I sincerely hope to be given an opportunity to grow and contribute. :)

I’m seriously considering paying someone to write my resume. 🤔 I’ve heard it can help make your CV stand out and look more professional, but is it actually worth the money? Has anyone here paid for resume writing services? Did it help land you a job or was it just a waste of cash? Trying to figure out if it’s a smart move or if I should just keep tweaking it myself. Honestly pretty tired of tweaking since 10 months ago. No offer yet hence why im thinking of using paid service.

Genuinely asking, can a resume be TOO perfect? 🤔 I once crafted mine like a well-oiled machine, but then I got feedback saying it felt ‘too polished’ and not authentic enough. They actually thought I asked chatgpt to write mine! I was honestly shocked but a bit proud as well haha. But really, shouldn't resume be a flawless work, or should it have a little bit of personality and "mistakes" to stand out from the crowd? 🤷‍♀️ How do you balance the line between professional and being yourself?
