I’m attending a job interview in 2 weeks time, if they ask about my “biggest achievement,” can I talk about school-related stuff like final year projects or competitions? Would interviewers find that boring or unprofessional? I’m worried they’ll expect something more “real world,” but that’s all I’ve got for now. Thanks for your help!

How do you usually tell interviewers that you’re seeking better opportunities and compensation without sounding desperate(money minded)? Long story short, I’m exploring opportunities elsewhere because my current company isn’t able to offer the pay progression I’m looking for. With the ever changing economy and rising cost of living, it’s kinda difficult to sustain a salary that has remained the same for the past three years.

Fresh grads, do you always research the company before interviews? I’ve got 3 interviews lined up next week and honestly, I’m not sure if I should deep-dive into all of them. Like, what exactly am I supposed to look for? Their products? Values? Boss's name?? 😭 I don’t want to sound clueless, but I also don’t want to spend hours reading stuff that won’t even come up in the interview! What’s the most important info to focus on so I don’t blank out when they ask “So why do you want to work here?”

Overheard a guy [fresh grad] in an online interview ask, “Will there be a promising bonus every year?” and I was like… KID! That’s a hard pass from employers. FYI im not saying it wrong to ask, but he could’ve phrased it better. Maybe something like, “How do you see this role evolving in 3 years? Will there be opportunities for promotion?” That way, you’ll sound like someone serious about growth. And from their answer will reveal a lot about the company culture w/o you having to ask directly 😉
