1 of my teammates has been taking MC at least once a month, always for the same reasons either headache or stomachache. At first, I let it slide bcz people do get sick. But after a few months, it started feeling too convenient. I don’t want to be that micromanaging boss who questions every MC, but it’s affecting the team. Deadlines get pushed & others hv to cover for her. How do you investigate something like this without looking like a villain? Do you just confront or find proof first?

I noticed 1 of my employees would change into casual attire after 6PM before leaving the office. As her manager I felt it was important to address that we need to maintain professionalism until the end of the workday. It wasn't about judging her, but about setting boundaries to ensure we reflect the company’s values. I pulled her aside, hoping she understood my intentions were to uphold a professional image, not criticize her. But she took it negatively. Am i being too strict?

Nobody prepares you for the reality of being a manager. You go from handling your own work to managing everyone else’s problems on top of your own KPIs. Staff resign? Your problem. Office politics? Your problem. Client drama? Also your problem. You always gonna end up being the middle person, either you keeping boss happy or protecting team members.

Hi everyone, I have 5 years of experience working in financial services in Jakarta. I recently moved to Singapore and hold an LTVP with a PLOC. Are there companies in Singapore that accept candidates with a PLOC from MOM? I’m finding it quite challenging to secure a job here. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. 🙇

one of my interns just secured a full-time role with us after only three months! Seeing their growth firsthand made me reflect on what it really takes to spot raw talent early and nurture it. For me, it’s about giving them ownership of projects, encouraging them to share ideas, and providing real feedback, not just routine tasks. But I know different leaders have different approaches—how do you identify high-potential interns and help them develop into full-time assets?

Middle managers, what are the biggest risks you’ve faced when rolling out change initiatives? Here’s what I’ve learned so far: 1. Give line managers a real say so they feel invested, not sidelined. 2. Let them prep by sharing info early, no one likes being blindsided by their own team. 3. Equip them with actual change leadership skills so they’re set up for success. Anything else I’m missing? Would love to hear your tips or lessons from the trenches!

Does anyone else also facing mid career crisis and how did you resolve it to move forward? After working for 2 decades in IT niche consulting, accounting and sales in APAC region I am finding it difficult to find a job in Singapore. I am not getting calls for small roles due to the possible reason that I am overqualified. And big roles are a long shot at the moment.

Joined this tech startup thinking it’d be exciting, but every day feels like a fire drill. One minute we’re building a product, next minute, pivoting because “market trends changed.” My team is stretched thin, but management just keeps throwing new projects at us. No proper roadmap, just vibes. Keeping everyone motivated is tough when priorities change overnight. How do you manage a team when everything feels so unpredictable? Any startup folks got survival tips?
