I joined this company [X] straight after graduating and have stayed loyal ever since—never jumped, never job-hopped. But now I’m finally trying to switch, and it’s been discouraging. Sent out tons of applications, but barely any replies. Is it because the market is not good right now? Or is my resume not attractive enough because I’ve never made a move before? First time going through this, so I’m not sure what’s normal. Help pls!

Hello, I’m new to accounting and honestly, I’m terrible at Excel. 😅 I’m planning to take some classes but wanna focus on the skills that are really needed in accounting and finance. So, can anyone share which Excel skills are the most valuable for these industries? I’ve heard stuff like VLOOKUP and pivot tables, but I’m not sure where to start. Hello! I heard from a friend that you don’t always need an accounting degree to become an accountant, but I’m not sure if I should trust them since they’re not an accountant themselves. I have a degree in Economics and Business, and I’m thinking of applying for accountant position. Can anyone verify if this is possible? Do I really need an accounting degree, or can I still get into the field with my current qualifications? Would love some insights!

I'm stuck with executive role in finance handling reports, reconciliations, and all the usual number crunching. It’s stable, but I feel like I’m just repeating the same cycle every month. I see some people move into consulting with higher pay, more strategic work, exposure to different industries. Sounds like a solid upgrade, but I have no idea how to make that jump. Being an accountant is already stressful enough but what really drains me is the office politics. The favoritism, people taking credit for work they didn’t do, unnecessary competition, and colleagues who are more focused on looking good than actually getting the numbers right. Is there anyone can suggest me what should I do if I still want to work in Accounting field in SG ? *note : the most suggested that I have been told is study ACCA , but ACCA will take at least 3 years to finish But i still want to get work to gain experience, right 😞?
