guess what I’ve learned that really made a difference in my career is the ability to translate numbers into stories. It’s one thing to prepare accurate reports, but it’s another skill entirely to help non-finance stakeholders understand what those numbers mean and how they affect the business. If you’re new in finance, don’t just focus on Excel—focus on communication too. That’s what sets you apart and opens more doors. 😉

Been working as an accountant for 3+ years and lately I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. I know my work inside out, but I don’t get invited into higher-level discussions. Just do the reports, close the books, and repeat. I want to step up into more strategic roles but idk how. Should I start learning FP&A? Business partnering? Or maybe explore data tools like Power BI? Feels like I’m stuck in execution mode. Anyone been through this and successfully levelled up?

I joined this company [X] straight after graduating and have stayed loyal ever since—never jumped, never job-hopped. But now I’m finally trying to switch, and it’s been discouraging. Sent out tons of applications, but barely any replies. Is it because the market is not good right now? Or is my resume not attractive enough because I’ve never made a move before? Hello! I heard from a friend that you don’t always need an accounting degree to become an accountant, but I’m not sure if I should trust them since they’re not an accountant themselves. I have a degree in Economics and Business, and I’m thinking of applying for accountant position. Can anyone verify if this is possible? I'm stuck with executive role in finance handling reports, reconciliations, and all the usual number crunching. It’s stable, but I feel like I’m just repeating the same cycle every month.
