Procurement
I’ve been working in procurement for about 4 years, currently earning $4k/month, and I’m starting to wonder if switching to supply chain management could offer better growth prospects. I know the two are closely related, but I’m not sure if they’re truly interchangeable. For those in either field, what’s the real difference between procurement and supply chain management? Does one offer better career progression, or are they pretty much the same in terms of opportunities?

Procurement
Procurement is a thankless job. Recently, a vendor didn’t deliver as expected, and now I’m getting the blame for it. I did everything right. I followed up, ensured deadlines were met, and even had backups in place. But somehow, it’s still “my fault” bcz higher-ups only see the end result. I don’t even know how to defend myself now without sounding defensive. How do you move on from being blamed for something that wasn’t your fault? Is there a way to clear your name without making things worse?

Procurement
Why does procurement feel like a constant battle between getting the best deal and dealing with suppliers who think we print money? 😩 Every RFQ turns into endless negotiations, delays, and last-minute changes. And don’t get me started on internal teams—finance wants cheaper, ops wants faster, but we’re the ones stuck in the middle. Anyone in procurement, how do you manage difficult vendors and impossible internal expectations without losing your mind?

HAve you encounter any over promising vendors? Like they guarantee you stock, confirm delivery dates, and everything looks good until last minute, ‘Sorry, got delay.’ By then, internal teams are already chasing us for updates like it’s our fault. And if we try to switch vendors, suddenly got politics involved. long-term relationships, preferred suppliers, or management punya ‘friend.’ How do you deal with suppliers who just can’t be consistent??

Procurement
I find it challenging to find a new job. 😔 I have been working in this construction company serving the semiconductor industry for 3 years, started from a procurement executive to a procurement manager but celebration didn't last long. My company has been relying on one client since the 90s and market behaviour has changed over the years and our business went down due to the competitive market and my boss started to blame me for not having negotiation skill to secure good material pricing.

Procurement
As someone in procurement, I’ve noticed something that’s not often discussed which is dealing with sustainability clauses and ethics-driven procurement in today’s supply chain. It’s tough balancing cost-cutting with making eco-friendly and ethical choices when the pressure is to deliver at the lowest price possible. Are we over-complicating it, or is this the future of procurement? How do you manage to maintain a competitive edge without compromising on ethical standards?

Studied in Arts degree but honestly i'm eyeing for career in procurement. Not exactly the most common path, I know. Most job listings ask for supply chain, business, or engineering degrees, but procurement seems more about negotiation, vendor management, and strategy—which I think I can do! But I’m wondering, do I even stand a chance or is it a long shot? Should I upskill first, or just try applying and see what happens?

Delay shipments, ignore requests, or give excuses are some of the things i deal with daily. I don’t enjoy being confrontational, but if I don’t push, nothing moves. How do i set boundaries without burning out from all the back-and-forth? Pls give me tipss
