I’ve been working front desk at a hotel for almost 3 years now. I'm always on time, handling check-ins, guest complaints, and all the usual chaos with a smile. I genuinely love hospitality, but sometimes I feel invisible. How do people in this industry get noticed by management? Any tips from fellow hoteliers on standing out (in a good way) and getting considered for supervisor or guest relations roles? After all, I begin to feel burnout working in the same role for years already.

Mass comm student here—thinking of applying for jobs in hotels but I’ve got zero background in hospitality. 😅 Not sure if I stand a chance or where to even start. Anyone here managed to break into the hotel line from a different field? What kind of roles should I be looking at, and how to make my resume not look super out of place? Appreciate any advice!

I’ve done housekeeping back in my home country, and I want to apply for hotel cleaning jobs here. But I’m not sure where to start. Do I need to go through an agency? Can I walk in and apply directly at hotels? Also not sure what documents I need or if they hire foreigners easily. Anyone who’s been through this, can you share your experience? I really want to work and do things the right way. 🙏

Keeping spirits up during off-season as a hotel manager is no joke. When the bookings slow down, I notice my team’s mood dips too. The energy isn’t the same, and even the smallest tasks feel heavier for them. I try to motivate with little treats or mini activities, but it’s still tough. As a manager, how do you keep morale up when there’s not much excitement or guest interaction going on?

Hello! I work in a hotel as a Front Desk Supervisor with 3 years of experience. I started as a front desk agent and worked my way up to a supervisor in just a short period of time, because I'm very passionate in what i do. I'm planning to either get a promotion or move to a better company, but my friend said it’s hard to progress without certifications. Now I’m wondering, is it worth getting certs like hospitality management or F&B-related ones? Or is experience actually more important?

When I first started working in hospitality, I was a total introvert. I hated talking to strangers and felt really awkward in social situations. But now, I’ve noticed a huge shift. I’ve become more confident and outgoing, especially when interacting with guests. It’s amazing how the environment has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. I never thought I’d be someone who thrives in social settings, but working in this field has really helped me grow. Anyone else had similar transformation?

Working in hospitality is already tough, but what if your manager makes it worse? Some of us deal with guests from hell, but nothing beats having a boss who nitpicks every little thing, takes credit for your work, and never appreciates the effort you put in. No matter how hard you try, it’s always “not good enough.” At this point, is it worth staying and tahan, or is it better to just leave? Anyone ever had a manager like this? How did you handle it?
