Anyone know hotels in SG that actually take care of their employees and not just customers? I’m talking team outings, appreciation dinners, bonuses, small gifts, or just simple kindness. I’ve worked at places where we’re treated like robots and it’s exhausting. I love hospitality but I also want to feel valued as a person. Does this kind of company/hotel culture that emphasizes on staff's wellbeing and happiness still exist?

I've been working in a company as a front desk executive in a hotel line. Therefore, what I accounted was, my jobscope does not tally with my position. I was asked to do public area cleaning and mistakes that I did my boss will canned me and sometimes just punch me on my shoulder. Manager might say that her way of teaching like that to ensure her staff be a better person. But I'm not comfortable and I felt forbia about being caned.

To those working in hospitality—especially hoteliers—how do you find balance with family life? Working in shifts, weekends, public holidays… it feels like I’m always missing out on family time. Even when I’m off, it’s during odd hours when everyone else is busy. Do you guys have any strategies or rituals to make up for the lost time with your loved ones? I really want to stay in this industry, but the guilt is starting to weigh on me.

I work at a hotel’s front desk and I really try to do everything by the book like follow SOP, greet guests warmly, keep records neat. But my manager always finds something wrong. Even the smallest thing, they’ll call me out in front of others. I’ve been trying to not take it personally, but it’s exhausting. Feels like whatever I do will never be good enough in their eyes. Has anyone worked with a manager like this? How do you cope when you know you’re giving your best but still not enough?
