Is it necessary to doubling my service rate to clients from other countries? Do you base it on their country’s rate or our local SGD? I don’t want to undercharge and sell myself short, but I also want to quote something fair and realistic. This could be a stepping stone to something bigger, so I really want to get it right. Freelancers gang, do you use contracts with every client? I’m not new to this but all these while I’ve been doing projects without much formality. No contracts, just DMs or WhatsApp chats to confirm things. Lately though, I’ve been thinking maybe I should be more professional, but I worry that using a contract might scare off clients especially small businesses who seem put off by “formal stuff.” How do you go about it? Is it really necessary, or do you pick and choose when to use one?

Freelancers, where do you find high quality clients?? 🥲 I keep attracting cheapskates, late payers, complainers... the kind that expects 10x the value for 1/10th of the price. Every project wears me down, and I’m getting so tired of getting these BAD QUALITY CLIENTS! I just want clients who pay on time, are clear with what they want, and treat me with basic respect. Do you have tips on where or how to get better clients? Or do I need to change how I present myself?

Freelancers, how do you deal with those last-minute “urgent” project requests where the client wants everything done ASAP but refuses to pay a rush fee? I’m already juggling other projects, and while I can say no or offer alternatives, I always end up feeling guilty especially if it’s a small business just starting out. I know how tough it is when you’ve got a tight budget, but still… my time isn’t free. Anyone else face this struggle? How do you set boundaries without feeling like the bad guy?

I have huge new respect for freelancers. The last few weeks have been the most anxious of my life. I helped someone through a referral, but she kept asking for more work without clear payment. She acted like it was a favor, not a job. When I finally asked to be paid right, she got mad and dropped me. It was super stressful and not worth the money. I’m thankful it’s over. Idk how you guys handle it everyday

I’ve worked with this client on 5 projects already, but the issue is they always pay me late though they eventually do pay. I’m at the point where I don’t want to take that risk anymore, but I also don’t want to offend them or burn any bridges. The tricky part is that they know my schedule because I make it public, so it feels awkward to say no without sounding like I'm just too busy. How do I politely reject their job offer now?

I just graduated from uni and quickly realised... the 9-6 lifestyle really isn’t for me. I enjoy the flexibility and non-commitment that comes with part-time jobs. But lately I’ve been wondering — is it realistic to survive on part-time income in Singapore? Like how many part-time gigs would I actually need to take on to match the salary of a full-time job here? Anyone doing this successfully? As a freelancer, I’ve been wondering how many mistakes or revisions I should fix without charging clients for amendments. I’m all about delivering quality work, but sometimes it feels like clients start expecting more and more without paying for it. I want to make sure they’re happy, but at the same time, I’ve got to value my time. How do you handle this balance? How many revisions are reasonable to do for free before charging them?
