I have huge new respect for freelancers. The last few weeks have been the most anxious of my life. I helped someone through a referral, but she kept asking for more work without clear payment. She acted like it was a favor, not a job. When I finally asked to be paid right, she got mad and dropped me. It was super stressful and not worth the money. I’m thankful it’s over. Idk how you guys handle it everyday

I’ve worked with this client on 5 projects already, but the issue is they always pay me late though they eventually do pay. I’m at the point where I don’t want to take that risk anymore, but I also don’t want to offend them or burn any bridges. The tricky part is that they know my schedule because I make it public, so it feels awkward to say no without sounding like I'm just too busy. How do I politely reject their job offer now?

I just graduated from uni and quickly realised... the 9-6 lifestyle really isn’t for me. I enjoy the flexibility and non-commitment that comes with part-time jobs. But lately I’ve been wondering — is it realistic to survive on part-time income in Singapore? Like how many part-time gigs would I actually need to take on to match the salary of a full-time job here? Anyone doing this successfully? As a freelancer, I’ve been wondering how many mistakes or revisions I should fix without charging clients for amendments. I’m all about delivering quality work, but sometimes it feels like clients start expecting more and more without paying for it. I want to make sure they’re happy, but at the same time, I’ve got to value my time. How do you handle this balance? How many revisions are reasonable to do for free before charging them?

I've got this one client who’s been great to work with overall, but there’s a recurring issue with late payments. I’ve already sent multiple reminders, but it seems like they always push back the due date. I don’t want to come off as too pushy because we’ve worked together for a while, but at the same time, I’ve got bills to pay too! Have any freelancers here experienced this? Freelancing is already tough, but retaining clients? Even tougher. Some disappear after one project, while others keep coming back. I want more of the latter. Should I be offering discounts, free revisions, or maybe small perks like priority service? I don’t want to undervalue my work, but I also want clients to feel they’re getting value. What actually works to keep clients loyal without making myself a charity?

Freelancing is already tough, but you know what makes it worse? Other freelancers sabotaging each other. 😩 Some undercut rates so low till it doesn't make sense, making it harder for everyone to charge what they’re worth. Some even steal clients or badmouth others just to get a job. The market is already small, why are we killing ourselves?? Have you encountered this kind of backstabbing? How do we stop this? We should be lifting each other up, not dragging each other down.
