Got scolded by a customer for a good 30 mins straight today. I just stood there taking it all in, and after that… I was completely drained. Couldn't focus, couldn’t keep up with my other tasks. I'm not great at handling big emotions, and it’s affecting my work. Yorobun... how do you recharge during work after something like this? I can't always take long breaks or disappear. What do you do to reset your mind fast?

Not all customers are rude, okay. Once, I helped an elderly uncle reset his account after he got locked out. Took some time, but he was super sweet and kept saying, “You’re very patient, thank you ah.” The next day, he came back with kopi and kaya toast for me. 🥹 I almost cried lah! For all the stress we go through, moments like this really make it worth it. What’s the most heartwarming customer moment you’ve had?

I’ve been struggling with hitting my customer service KPIs since the start of the year because they've set it way higher than last year. The targets are set based on metrics that, honestly, are SO hard to achieve with the volume of work we have. I’m worried that my performance will reflect poorly, but I’m also trying my best. I need advice on how to talk to my boss about this. How do I approach this conversation without coming off as making excuses?

So there’s this colleague at work who’s constantly spreading rumors about me because I consistently hit my monthly KPIs, while she struggles to do so. Instead of asking me for advice, she’s been tarnishing my image by gossiping behind my back. It’s honestly really frustrating dealing with someone who can’t handle their own performance and resorts to petty behaviour. I want to confront her, but I’m not sure how to do it without making things worse. Anyone got any ideas?

My friend also works in CS, and their team is the total opposite of mine, supportive colleagues, a manager who actually cares, and everyone helps each other out when things get tough. But it’s a whole different story when I hear about my brother. He always rants to me about the backstabbing, finger-pointing when things go wrong, and managers who only care about KPIs. He’s been stuck there for three years and has been applying elsewhere, but no callbacks yet. So yeah… tough times

Having been in customer service for a while, I’ve learnt about what really makes someone stand out in this line. For me, the top 3 qualities that make for good customer service? Number 1: Patience bcz some customers really test you, but you just gotta breathe and stay calm. Number 2: Empathy. If you can put yourself in the customer’s shoes, they can feel that sincerity. And number 3? Problem-solving skills. it’s not enough to smile and nod, you have to actually help. Agree?

My friend also works in CS, but her team is super supportive—managers back them up, colleagues help each other, and toxic customers get handled properly. Meanwhile, my team? Everyone just covers their own backside, and management only cares about KPIs. Been in this job for 3 years, and I don’t know if I should stay or just leave. I like what I do, but the environment sucks. Do I tough it out or is it time to move on? But I'm due for team leader post next year if i stay
