35, jobless, broke (literally only $500 in my account) & still living with my parents. Am i a failure? Got retrenched last year and haven’t been able to land anything since. Is it age factor? IDK. My savings almost gone while most of my friends are either getting married, buying houses, or climbing career ladders but I'm stuck in a loop of rejection emails with zero motivation. I feel like I’ve failed in every way possible & it's so late to start over again. IDK what else to do. Any advice?

You’re NOT a failure. Honestly, a lot of people are quietly struggling too, it's just that not everyone talks about it. Retrenchment isn’t your fault, and starting over at 35 is 100% possible. My advice? Focus on small wins like upskill, freelance, reach out to support networks. Don’t do this alone. Find a supportive community and you'll get there.

Don't feel bad, I was 50 yrs old and had resigned due to personal issues 2 years ago. I was jobless and only found a job 3 months ago. Just keep yourself upgrade with relevant courses and you will find a suitable job. Wishing you all the best !

Being jobless in Singapore is very scary. Personally if you ask me about staying with parents. Yes i feel bad and it really embarrasses me. I hate that I'm still at depending on them. At the same time, I'm grateful to have a mom that understands my struggles. But you're not alone.. I also in the process of bettering myself now though so maybe there's some hope for the future. Hang in there!

Starting over at 35 isn’t too late. Have you heard people say "life begins at 40?" You still have few more years to try 😊 Life isn’t a race, and where you are now doesn’t dictate where you’ll be in a year.

You are in a depressed state my friend. Situation won't change until you start acting. Start with simple things. Go out for a walk in the morning. Look, meet and observe life and people around you. Everyone out there be it humans, plants, trees, birds or insects are busy with a routine. The ones who are busy looks lively and the ones who are not looks as if dead

Not getting any callbacks from companies is already frustrating. But what makes it worse is staying with parents who keep asking, 'Have you found a job yet?' They just don’t get how tough the job market is right now. I just left my first job, and they expect me to land another full-time role immediately. Make sure with good pay, nice holidays, and ideally WFH or nearby. The pressure is real. Did you ever get pressure from them?

I got hired at 36 after a year of rejections (you'll never wanna count how many rejections i went thru the whole year :D) . It’s not about age, your time will come. Dont worry!

Being 35 is just the start of a new chapter in life. It’s never too late to begin again. Avoid comparing yourself to others—everyone moves at their own pace. Keep believing—never lose hope. Have trust and confidence in yourself. 💪🏻
Go for a walk or get some exercise outdoors in the park, breathe in some fresh air, and get your body moving. Once you start, good things will follow. 🧘🏻♂️✨👍
