Spent money on a cert that was supposed to boost my career but ended up just another line on my resume. The course was all theory, no real skills, and employers didn’t even care about it. Thought it’d help me get better pay, but HR was more interested in experience than fancy papers. Now I’m skeptical about upskilling. How do you even know if a cert is worth it before spending time and money? Anyone else kena this before?

Been there, done that. Dropped $$$ on a cert thinking it’d open doors, but turns out HR just skimmed past it. Super frustrating when job posts ask for "certifications preferred" but still go for experience first. Now I check job listings, see if people in the role actually have that cert, and ask around before committing. Learning is great, but gotta be strategic.
