I’ve always wondered about the difference between a CV and a resume? As I’m updating my application materials, I keep hearing that I should tailor both differently, but I’m confused. Is a CV more detailed and academic while a resume is shorter and more job-focused? Do I need both for every job application, or should I choose one over the other depending on the role? Anyone have a clear understanding of when to use which?

CVs are usually longer, academic, and cover your full career.. great for research or teaching roles. Resumes are more concise, focused on skills and achievements relevant to the job you're applying for. I mostly use resumes unless the job posting specifically asks for a CV.
