I’m curious why, during resume vetting or interviews, employers tend to focus so much on our educational background rather than our actual capabilities and experience in the field we’ve worked in. Some of us may have had poor grades in the past, but as we grow older and mature, we become wiser, more skilled, and more competent within our scope of work. Shouldn’t our experience, growth, and proven abilities matter just as much? if not more, than our academic results?

👏 Valid points raised but I'd say it's less about education vs experience and more about how rigidly employers apply these filters.

Good point. read one of the comments said based on the field. I actually agree on that. After all, for fresh grad who has no experience, education results will say a lot about them.

Hmm sorry but experience alone doesn't cut it either. I've seen people with "years of experience" just repeating bad habits for decades. At least education gives a structured, verified foundation that's harder to fake. Just my opinion

Depends on the industry maybe. Some industry like maybe medical/law really need good grades..

Honestly it's a both/and situation isn't it? Education and experience each tell a different part of your story. The real issue is when employers treat one as completely irrelevant without considering the full picture.
