Freelancers gang, do you use contracts with every client? I’m not new to this but all these while I’ve been doing projects without much formality. No contracts, just DMs or WhatsApp chats to confirm things. Lately though, I’ve been thinking maybe I should be more professional, but I worry that using a contract might scare off clients especially small businesses who seem put off by “formal stuff.”
How do you go about it? Is it really necessary, or do you pick and choose when to use one?

actually same worried! A client used to delay my payment, but simple contracts will change it. Just a simple one will do...
