Mentored a junior employee for years, watched them grow, and now they just got promoted to VP. Super proud moment, but also made me pause and think… what’s next for me as their mentor? It’s one thing to guide someone when they’re still climbing the ranks, but now that they’ve stepped into leadership, the dynamic shifts. I want to keep supporting them, but without overstepping or making it seem like I’m trying to hold on too tightly. How do i keep mentoring when they've outranked me?

Honestly, the fact that you’re thinking about this already shows how self-aware you are. Maybe now your role is more of a cheerleader than coach:) still rooting for them, just in a quieter, respectful way.
