How soon do you start grooming your successor? I’ve been in my current leadership role for a while now, and lately I’ve been thinking more seriously about succession planning. I truly believe that a good leader should prepare others to lead too—but I’m torn between investing heavily in one strong potential candidate, or developing a broader pool of people with leadership potential.
What’s the best way to go about this in real life? Have you been through it—either as a leader or a successor?

Hmm, it’s not really about picking one “chosen one” and more about giving the team chances to step up in different situations. Some may shine in people management, others in problem-solving.
