I just made the leap to CFO after years in finance. Exciting, but also overwhelming! The shift from managing numbers to leading strategy, dealing with investors, and driving business decisions feels like a whole new world. I’m curious to hear from others, what was the biggest lesson you learned in your first year as an executive? How did you balance financial oversight with leadership responsibilities? Any advice on building credibility, managing pressure, or avoiding common mistakes?

Pressure’s real in year one. What helped me was carving out time for big-picture thinking, not just reporting. I scheduled strategy check-ins with the CEO and other leaders, it kept me aligned and visible. Oh, and don’t forget to celebrate small wins with your team. It matters! :)
