Entry-level roles ask for min 2 years of working experience. Is this the norm now?? What happened to give me a job first so i can GAIN experience?🤬
Sorry guys, i'm honestly SO EXHAUSTED. It’s been A YEAR of nonstop applications, futile interviews & rejection emails. First few months, I stayed hopeful. But now my family keeps asking, "Still no job meh?" I’ve tried everything! Networking, career fairs, upskilling.. but the job market is brutal. How do i keep being positive in this situation??

They don't want entry level staff, they just want entry level wages #Isaidwhatisaid

I feel you so much. The SG job market right now is insane! Entry-level roles but need 2years working experience? Make it make sense. The worst part is the ghosting and rejections that don’t even tell you why. It’s like applying into a void. 😩 And that “Still no job?” question from family? Ugh. You’re not alone in this. Just keep going, even when it feels hopeless. The right opportunity will come. Sending strength. 🤍

I honestly lost count of how many jobs I’ve applied for too, ANDDDD it’s the same nonsense every time. "We’re looking for someone with experience" Duhhh, THEN WHY CALL IT ENTRY-LEVEL?!? I’m so done with these unrealistic expectations 😩😩😩😩

These are delusional companies. they want to pay entry level wages to experienced workers. these HR people must have stones in their brains.

Things has change now. Companies dont keen to train people anymore. They expect candidates already know how to do the job better. Long story short.. company will wait someone with 3+ years of experience who is desperate for a job and apply to that specific role instead of trying to get a mid-level job. That's why HR has these requirements and why recent graduates don't ever actually get a job. Most have to know someone or go through a staffing agency.

Struggle is real no joke 😩 Been there, and it’s mentally exhausting. Have you tried tweaking your resume to highlight transferable skills? Sometimes when the job ads say ‘2 years’, they're still considering fresh grads.

Totally feel you on this, the job market is tough. What helped me was focusing on skills that are actually in demand. I took a course at Vertical Institute in Generative AI (highly employable now) and Data Analytics (super transferrable across industries). It made a big difference in getting interviews and finally landing a role. Hang in there, sometimes a small pivot can open up way more opportunities!

Mmm, try looking at smaller companies or startups? These smaller ones tend to be more open to fresh grads (I think). And sometimes, just apply even if you don’t meet every requirement. Who knowss it'll still works.

I completely relate to you! The job market is so messed up that even after applying to over 150 companies in just two months, I haven't received a single response. To make matters worse, as a recent graduate and an international student, my situation feels even more challenging. Many employers are reluctant to hire foreign students due to visa and quota restrictions, and I’m running out of time. I only have a few months left before I’ll be forced to leave my family here in Singapore and go back.
