Those who got retrenched, how do you bounce back? Need some supportive words from you guys. 🙏 Since I got laid off last year, it's been so challenging getting back on my feet. Can't help but to compare myself with my peers who are enjoying life with families, owning properties, buying cars, travelling overseas while me struggling to secure a new job at 37 years old. Never once I imagine myself would be in this situation so it's been very hard for me to navigate. Pray for my mental health TQ

Second retrenchment at my 40+, sad for awhile. Spend time to tidy up my CV and prepared for multiple interviews. During free time, do exercise and deditate to stay positive. Luckily to get new offer even though it is a paycut.

Have you checked if you're eligible for 'SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support scheme' whereby government gives up to $6k over 6 months to help involuntary loss of job. Jia you and all the best for your job hunt, always believe that when 'bad' things happen, it's to redirect you back to the path that's meant for you!

I would like to give you a shoulder massage. I know how it feels because I have been through it. Buck up. Take this as a next chapter for you. While searching for a job, take the opportunity to do the things that you don't normally have the time to do due to busy work schedule. You have my moral support and I will pray for you.

Everyone's going through tough times,. At least you don't have a family to feed or a mortgage to pay like some others. Count your blessings instead of complaining online about what others have. Just my 2cents.

I was unemployed for 7 months and it nearly broke me. What got me through was treating job hunting like a part-time job, a few hours a day, then I'd do something else. Also, reached out to old colleagues just to chat. Networking helps honestly.

Tbh, if you've been struggling for a long time, maybe time to lower your expectations. Stop comparing yourself to others and just take any job at this point. Can't be picky when you're unemployed...
