8 months of applying and rejections. It was never this tough to secure a full time position as a graphic designer. I’ve been in this industry for close to 8 years. I’ve also been to almost everywhere - local media agencies, in-house branding to large ad agencies and POSM/events production. This year has been extremely difficult, getting back to back rejections from my applications isn’t something I’m used to. What can I do?

8 years of experience means you have so much things to offer into this industry. Sorry that you've to face all of these. I believe you did have a strong portfolio because you've worked so hard to build your career in creative. I guess the obstacle is this market now become too competitive, too many people applying for jobs as graphic designer while most companies slowly leverage on Ai. What would do is you can exploring freelance jobs, temporarily.

I suggest, create an online portfolio
Then consider finding freelance jobs on these type of portal. Maybe someone will appreciate your skills and design and engage you on a regularly basis. You may end up working remotely anywhere in the world

Not sure you have try this or not. Perhaps you could get into UX & UI Design? Thee roles can bring you more options than just doing design for social content or other stuff

Hmm, have you considered expanding beyond graphic design roles? Maybe something that's related to your background like art direction, UX/UI, or brand strategy?

I’m not too familiar with the creative industry, but with your experience, does it pay well?

I just had a deep talk with friend about this. He's working in creative field too. From what he said. he noticed back then.. there seems to be a LOT of graphic design jobs but it’s extremely hard to find one that pays decently and seems to have humane working conditions.
