SUSSS! I'm suspecting our new team member is lying. She has a "degree" from NTU but the quality of her work, skills and knowledge are not parallel to someone from NTU. My sister studied there and i kinda know how NTU is like but when I asked this colleague abt her experience, she gave me vague answers. And she keeps on making rookie mistakes like didn't you already learn this at school? Could it be possible that she fake her certs to get a job? What can I do to investigate/expose her? 🧐

If this is behaviour kinda disturbing your daily. Then the best approach is to document the mistakes and have a casual chat with her about concerns. If things dont improve, you could suggest to your head to verify her credentials. Dont go stalking her all by yourself because that's not your job

Yes, if she's still new, she's likely in her probation period. It's best to let management handle any performance issues. It's normal for people to make mistakes when starting a new job. I remember making minor mistakes on my first day at my first and second jobs too. Let's give her some time to adjust.

Let the probation period be the judge whether that person can stay or not. In the meantime, you just do your own job

Hot tea! Tell us moreee! ☕️ But seriously, if you suspect this person of lying about her qualifications + poor work performance, you could give your boss a heads up. It's important to let the boss be in the loop of whats going in within the team especially when it's involving team work. I'm curious, is it possible to get her background check by NTU?

Umm, you’ve got so much time for that? 😅 then what if you found out the cert was legit.. you wasted a lot of time where you can use those “fbi” hours to eat or maybe do other work that can benefit you.

What do you get from exposing her? What if she’s not lying?

Excuse me @que u cant entirely blame hr on that. the company should tighten up the policy, like maybe invest bit more on getting background check on every candidates before they completely hire them.
