Engineering Role
I’ve been managing a team of contingent workers. I’m finding it tricky to keep them engaged and aligned with the rest of the team. They don’t have the same job security or benefits as full-time employees, so it feels like I need to find new ways to motivate them. Anyone else here work with freelancers? How do you keep them motivated and part of the team culture, even when they’re not in the office every day?

One trick I found? Giving them ownership of small projects. When they feel trusted and not just “hired hands,” they show more initiative. Also, celebrating their contributions (even over Slack) helps keep morale up. Everyone wants to feel part of something.
