Dear fresh grads, I'm sorry that it's hard for us to offer you a FT position & would prefer to hire you under contract-basis. This is because handling fresh grads with ZERO working experience can be a painful & exhausting experience for us and some of you guys don't usually make the cut. So it's a safer option for both of us if you decide to leave when you can't tahan working here or if i feel you're unsuitable for the position. This is my POV but i think i speak for many managers. Agree?

Ops, i beg to differ. If this is the mindset then this is why many frwsh grads feel disillusioned. For me, everyone started somewhere, why not gove them chance to learn and grow

Reading this makes me grateful a bit for meeting a good manager who saw worth in me years back. I was given trust and responsibility even i was just a fresh grad without any solid experience

Very transparent. But i feel it’s a bit unfair for you to say that. It actually sounds more you’re avoiding responsibility. Why not be the person who gave them chance?

Sad to say, some manager know little about their work as well. so they expect new employee to know what to do so they dun need to guide. becos they dun have the right knowledge to guide.

It really depends.
1) During an interview, you may be able to pick up some vibes to give you an idea if the person is suitable for the role.
2) That's where the probation period comes in.
3) I believe most companies provide OJTs and the supervisor is responsible for guiding and training the new staff.
4) it's a chicken and egg situation. if the person doesn't have experience, how does one expect them to gain that experience if they are not given a chance to do so.

Fresh diploma grad with only 1 years ++ of working experience here.
Tbh, I can understand why someone with a more mature working experience is important. Tensions and mismanaged expectations/EQ from inexperienced grads can rock team dynamics quite a bit. No matter how skilled the grad maybe, managers may become distracted on managing the team can become an absolute burden to the productivity of the team.
