Tasked with evaluating a few new vendors but feeling a bit lost. Only general advice was given, like “make sure they’re reliable,” and there’s no formal SOP or checklist since approvals are mostly handled by management. For someone new to vendor evaluation, what are the key things to look out for? Price, service, track record — or something else? Any tips or frameworks for assessing vendors effectively would be really helpful!

Break it down into 3 buckets: cost (are they within budget), capability (can they actually deliver what’s promised), and credibility (reviews, references, past projects). I also test their responsiveness, if slow response now, imagine later..
