With the current locals vs foreigners quota issue, honestly I'm not even sure if Singapore is welcoming for foreigners to be working here anymore. With the quota not being available as to keep the job opportunities for locals, but at the same time locals don't wanna be working in an industry where requires more foreigners since these industries are deemed to be more tedious, longer hours etc. So what's next? No quotas = no manpower which leads to the remaining team suffering since longer hours.

Just to be clear... we Singaporeans, we are not against foreigners. We both have in common, which is against the unfairness in the workplace and employment opportunities. Concerns are often about ensuring a level playing field for everyone, regardless of their background

I often get approached by staffing agencies and MNC recruiters on LinkedIn, only to be ghosted once they find out I’m an S Pass holder. Even though my current role is one that many Singaporeans avoid, the current quota constraints make us practically unemployable. It seems that the SG Gov has a long-term plan to increase local participation, even in sectors that are notorious for low wages and poor work-life balance.

with the new rules in 2025.. it does tighten requirements for foreigners, especially for roles locals don’t usually go for

I know how you feel. but that's what the gov wants. Basically the quotas were introduced to encourage businesses to hire locals as much as possible. Long story short, these policies aim to ensure Singaporeans have a fair chance to secure jobs

always a complicated issue right now with the locals vs. foreigners quota. a friend of mine, she comes to sg to work at f&b, dressed as normal. like locals. if there are raids she just sits and pretends to be a customer. t makes me wonder how these restrictions affect day-to-day operations.. Are there better ways to balance the quota while ensuring everyone is treated fairly?

This explains so much! Service quality has dropped, longer wait times, understaffed outlets, staff looking exhausted. Something needs to change here but not sure what...
