I've been hearing a lot about Quantity Surveying as a career, but most explanations online feel quite generic—budgets, contracts, cost estimation. I get the gist, but I want to know what the job is really like from those in the field. Is it more office-based or site-heavy? How’s the work-life balance? And what kind of career growth can you expect? Curious because my brother is planning to pursue this career but he seems clueless and only believing what he's reading on the internet. Thanks!

Actually, if your brother thinks QS is just about budgeting, he’s in for a surprise. 😂 It’s part detective work, part negotiation, and part number crunching. Some jobs are more desk-bound (consultancy firms), while contractor-side QS roles involve more site visits. Career-wise, it’s stable
