Used to think remote work was the dream. no traffic, no office politics, just pure focus. But now, I’m starting to feel the downside. I barely talk to anyone outside of work calls, and even then, it’s just straight to business. When I’m out in public, I struggle to strike up simple conversations. I used to be able to chat casually, but now, I just keep quiet because I feel awkward. Am I just overthinking, or is this a real side effect of remote work? How do you get back to being socially normal?

Definitely a real side effect! I didn’t realize how much I relied on daily office banter until I caught myself avoiding small talk at the grocery store. What helped me was joining a class (language, dance, whatever interests you) where casual convos happen naturally. Also, voice calls with friends instead of just texting.. it makes a difference. You’re not broken, just out of practice! :)
