Asking for a friend... Is it worth it to work as IT protege with salary of $2K under 1-year renewable contract? I think it's too low but I have no prior experience in this field. It's her first job offer. Should she wait for a better offer or just say yes?

For a first job, I think you shld just accept the opportunities if you're in rush in securing a job. But if you still wnt to wait then it should also be fine. But, we wouldnt know did we skipped gold or not.. I'd advice to accept it first..
