I didn’t manage to get into the company I was really aiming for, and now I feel stuck in my current role. Lately, I’ve been thinking about resigning without a backup, just to give myself the breathing space to reset and explore new directions. But am I really going to let my intrusive thoughts win and hand in that resignation letter, or should I just stay put, continue working even though my heart is no longer in it, and play it safe until something better comes along? What should i do?

Pardon my inputs... Maybe it would be good if you could step back and look at the entire situation (whether any potential salvage areas which you could hang on before making drastic decision) - i may be wrong but something to think first..

If staying is draining you, resigning can give you space to reset and find a clearer path. Life’s too short to drag your feet in a job that kills your spirit.

There’s no “right” way. If your gut says leave, maybe it’s time. Opportunities will come at the right time if you keep trying.

If you’ve got some savings and support, why not? Who knows after you leave your current role, you explore yourselves to better opportunities.

Leave w/o backup plan sounds like a plan, only if you have huge amount of finance saved 😌

Just wanna say, it’s easy to regret impulsive decisions when the bills pile up. Instead, think of your current role as a stepping stone. Maybe you're not stuck atm, but you're just exhausted. Take a leave a week or two and come back stronger.

Your intrusive thoughts might be a signal, but not the solution. Maybe change is really needed but not necessarily unemployment right.. Keep applying, networking, and experimenting with side gigs :3
