How much can we trust Singapore salary guide.. Is it meant to make us feel bad about our current pay or inspire us to earn higher? Dunno why but I'm very skeptical with it now. According to it, I’m in the bottom 41% of my peers aged 35-39, and it claims most people my age earn $12k or more! LOL Hard to believe when people in my circle don’t earn anywhere near that 🫠Where are they even getting this info from?

Something bugging me after reading this, do you think HR use the data/guide to set their pay scales?

These guides help you gauge the market value of your skills. If your current salary falls below the average for your role and experience level, it’s a sign that employers elsewhere are offering better compensation. Leverage this insight to confidently negotiate a raise or explore opportunities that recognize your worth

Reliable or not… that’s always going to be uncertain. Even if you bring it up to recruiters/hiring managers during salary negos, they won’t outright say it’s wrong, they’ll come up w different excuses. Don’t be surprised if companies have their own version of what they think is ‘fair pay’ to offer

Checking Glassdoor literally didn’t help at all, making me feel worse about my pay. My only reaction was, 'Wait... this is all I make? lol

Glassdoor is quite accurate guide. the rest can ignore as the salary most likely inflated.

it’s very hard to consider the age range and pay range, without considering the field that these people are in. i’m 42 and my pay range from 5k to 5.2k while my peers (cousins and best friend same age) around me in financial and IT are getting 2x higher than me. So you can’t just compare base on age but industry is better comparison.

yeah i thinking the same, how accurate is the info on ranges for various positions and fields? I pretty much know that people in general are paid what they're worth in most cases. If you think your salary isn't enough, then need to apply for another jobs and see what offers you might get

I mean, take it as a guide for you to grow your income? don't put 100% on it. After all, i think my surroundings(even me) are also like you 😆😆 so, not sure where the data got collected hahah
