Support Technician
As a technician, I’m trying to figure out how to climb the career ladder. I know there are different paths in the field, but I’m unsure what the end goal should be. Is the natural progression to become a manager, or are there other roles I should be aiming for? I enjoy the hands-on work, but I’m wondering if there’s something more I can work towards to grow in my career. Anyone who started out from the bottom, what did you do to take your career to the next level?

You don’t have to become a manager unless you want to. Some of the best-paid peeps I know stayed technical but got into systems design, QA, or became consultants. I’d say look at roles like field engineer, applications specialist, or even trainer. There’s more than one ladder!
