HR informed my toxic boss that they've received complaints from our team regarding her behavior and how she manages the team. She got mad OBVIOUSLY and called all of us to the meeting room to "iron" things out. On her side, she defended herself by saying she's busy & we're not a competent team. She also asked us to say it to her face if we're not happy. Now the team feels betrayed by HR. Shouldn't HR keep it anonymous?? FYI, 2 ppl hv resigned because cannot tahan working under her anymore.

What your HR did was right, informing your boss that her style of working & attitude are affecting others. But should've kept it anonymous, wasn’t necessary to mention the complaints came specifically from your team 🥲that’s gaslighting and could make things worse with no real improvement, poor you guys! Hopefully they handle it better moving forward

HR & ADMIN MANAGER (SG, MY, HK)
"betrayal by HR"...what you expect the HR to do, when you guys inform the HR about it. Isnt it that you want the HR to speak to her. Cant be expecting the HR to bring up the matters to Top management (without listening her side of the story and give her a chance to defense herself). The only issue here is the Manager should reflect on her management style and talk to 1 by 1 privately. And not challenged the whole team.

This is a very sensitive issue and one needs to have a good level of EQ in handling such matters. I wouldn't say that either the HR or the Manager is wrong but this matter definitely can be handled in a better manner.

On another note, is it ok to share escaping abusive management practices as reason for leaving a previous role during interviews?

I mean HR has got a point where she/he just being transparent to both sides. Your boss could handle this situation better by being more professional and not emotional 🤔

Honestly, if your boss can take a step back and listen, this issue will be better 😁

This happened to me before. I ask one of the HR regarding the resignation procedures and the next morning, my HoD called me into the room and started the interrogation. Feel so betrayed

Nothing wrong with HR to give feedback to her. As for her, she has to reflect and wake up. Not continue to behave this way and try to increase the morale of the team if not she can't go far alone.

My take is do not tell HR on the issue, no use at all. Seek out for a new job. As long as the leader did not breach the company policy, HR cant do anything to the leader. The leader will nvr change.
